St Petersburg, November 19-20, 2009
In 2008 St Petersburg State Museum of theatre and music celebrated its centennial. For the anniversary year Museum prepared a number of exhibitions, memorial meetings and theatre festivals. The conference “Museums of theatre and music in the international space” has become one of the important events of the year. Participants of the conference from all over the world discussed history of the world famous museum collections, artists, actors, choreographers and collectors. A communication dedicated to the personality of Levkiy Ivanovich Zheverzheyev, founder of the Decorative Institute, one of the most famous theatre collectors, Maecenas and museum figures aroused great interest. In the course of discussion it was decided to prepare the whole conference dedicated to his personality and activities. As a result, St Petersburg State Museum of theatre and music holds “Zheverzheyev readings” on November 19-20, 2009. The papers dedicated to “Soyuz molodezhi [The Unit of the youth]”, famous performances “Vladimir Mayakovsky” and “Pobeda nad Solntsem [The victory over the Sun]”, Decorative Institute, Hermitage theatre and other important events and institutions of Russian culture related to the great personality of L. Zheverzheyev will be read during the conference.
