 The exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the composer aimed to present not only his creative activities in theatre, cinema and variety art but also to explore details of his biography: family customs, personal likings, relationships between relatives.
Andrey Petrov decided to become a composer after watching to ⌠The Great Waltz■, a film about Johann Strauss: ⌠Its lies about the composer▓s profession were so tempting! A bird sang and a waltz came to being, a postman▓s horn blew its note and a symphony appeared! Plenty of flowers and beautiful ladies, and the whole Vienna sing and dance. So be it! I must become a composer╩ √ remembered Petrov.
Andrey Petrov worked in a great variety of genres and styles developing traditions of Russian composer school. His contemporaries, Dmitry Shostakovich among them, praised his work very high. Sheremetev palace puts on display a great number exhibits from Petrov▓s personal archive, collections of Theatre Museum, Mariinsky theatre, Boris Eifman Ballet theatre, N. Kasatkina and V. Vasilyov theatre, Lenfilm studio to illustrate Petrov▓s biography and creative activities. A map presenting places where music by Petrov was performed was created specially for the exhibition. Costumes an set design to his ballet ⌠Creation of the World■ staged in Mariinsky theatre in 1971 by N. Kasatkina and V. Vasilyov and featuring Mikhail Baryshnikov, Irina Kolpakova, Valery Panov and Liudmila Semenyaka are also presented at the exhibition. The ballet had won the worldwide fame and was staged in 60 theatres of Europe and America.
Installations of Petrov▓s children room and working place including the original furniture, children pictures, leaves from manuscripts and memorabilia were put together to recreate the atmosphere of Petrov▓s way of life: there are costumes, photos from performance ⌠Peter I■, musical ⌠The Blue Bird■, opera-fairy ⌠Mayakovsky begins■, ballet ⌠Master and Margarita■ and many others.
Petrov is known for the most of the audience as the author of music for many a famous film. Series of meetings with actors, directors and composers who knew A. Petrov personally will take place during the exhibition. The concert season in Sheremetev palace starts on October 1 with the program consisted of his pieces.

Ждем Вас на новой выставке "Красавицы русского театра" в основном здании Музея. Выставка продлится до 12 августа 2012. Вплоть до закрытия на экспозиции будет работать современный фотосалон, где знаменитый фотограф Валерий Плотников, сможет создать портреты посетителей.
