The Samoilov family Museum (8 Stremyannaya St.)
The exhibition works from Jun 4, 2009 to April 30, 2010.
May 27, 2009, 4 p.m. The Samoilov family Museum (8 Stremyannaya St.) presents an exhibition of paintings by famous theatre and film actor Yuri Bogatyrev.
The very few know that the actor used to paint and had created the whole gallery of theatre images. Those visiting the exhibition will see collection items belonging to A. Adabashyan, I. Savvina, O. Dal, O. Efremov, O. Tabakov, N. Gundareva. The items collected by staff of Moscow Academic Art Theatre Museum will interest all who love both the fine art and theatre/cinema.
Bogatyrev depicted his friends wearing their theatre costumes and make-ups, the grotesque images deeply imprinted with his creative ability seem to step out from a fairy-tale, the ornamented background and decorative motives prevent one from literal understanding of the pictures, which help the theatre imagery to stay mysterious and inconceivable.
All works by Bogatyrev are treasured in private collections of his friends. The visitors are given a unique chance to explore another side of the rich talent of the actor, who had gone long before his time.
The exhibition organized by MHAT Museum and St Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music can be visited until August 30, 2009.
