"Chekhoviana by Lev Dodin"

The Museum has chosen a unique topic from the rich scenic history of Chekhov's plays, it tells about a theatre which is still actual and full of life, which excites the audience today.

Scenic dialogue of Lev Dodin and Chekhov lasts for fifteen years. Starting from 1994 Maly Drama Theatre — Theatre de l'Europe has staged "The Cherry Orchard", "A Play without a Title", "The Seagull", "Uncle Vanya", "Three Sisters" would be premiered in the end of October.

"Chekhviana by Lev Dodin" presents personal point of view of one of the leading stage directors on Chekhov's drama. Never making any changes in the original texts he tries to find out in theirs space the pulse of life, its conflicts and vivid intonations. Brilliant set designers such as Eduard Kochergin, David Borovsky, Alexey Poray-Koschitz and Alexander Borovsky co-operate with the director. Their conceptual works helped to design the exhibition. The audience will see details of the set designs, costumes, photos and videos telling about Dodin's productions which have won the international fame. “Chekhoviana” is the very first exhibition project dedicated to Lev Dodin and Maly Drama Theatre — Theatre de l'Europe to take place in St Petersburg.
