A travelling exhibition dedicated to the life and creative career of the great Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg and his role in the search for national identity.
Grieg considered himself both a nationalist and a cosmopolitan. His life and creative activities may not only be a source of inspiration, but also provide ideas of how Art influences national identity - a keen subject in the whole world nowadays.
The exhibition presents a reconstruction of Grieg's house, his private belongings, materials concerning his biography and career against the background of the Norwegian history. Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to listen to the composer's music and to take free exhibition booklets.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Grieg Museum in Bergen (Norway) and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway. Sponsored by Norsk Hydro.
Earlier the exhibition was displayed in Czech Republic, Germany and Belgium; after its closure in St.Petersburg, it will move to the Pyotr Tchaikovsky Museum in Klin (Russia).
