The exhibition is dedicated to the Moscow Art Theatre history. The photo exposition made by photo artist Igor Alexandrov presents the photo journal of the theatre life over the past 50 years.
Igor Alexandrov continuing traditions of the great photographers of the Moscow Art Theatre Michael Sacharov and Adolf Gornstein creates the photo chronicle of the theatre according to performances and its creators. Pushed by artistic sensibility and spirit of research Igor Alexandrov not only presents performances in photos but also tries to bring the atmosphere and perception of performances. Igor feels a sense of responsibility to future generations and realizes his mission of maintaining the history of the great Theatre. He has seen a lot of events and many great talents of the theatre and taken photographs of the well-known actors as well as new rising stars. The camera of the photographer has been also focused on guests and friends of the Theatre. The photographer shows the views and images taken behind the scenes, in the hall, during the performances and rehearsals. Photos give evidence of onstage and backstage life as well as everyday life of the theatre.
The exposition also tells us about those who became Russian and world-famous legends of the Theatre and who were stars a long time ago. The photographs depict different aspects of theatre life, the joyful and sad episodes of theatre history. Igor Alexandrov creates photo portraits that captures the essence of a person, allowing you to feel their presence forever. He took images of theatre persons everywhere on the stage, at the meetings, on tours, on the backstage and at their homes. Visitors to the exhibition can expect wonderful surprises and revelations and talented photographer Igor Alexandrov will find new stories for photographs and photo portraits of friends, colleagues, theatre amateurs and spectators.
The exhibition also presents costumes, sketches of theatre sets from the collection of the Museum of Moscow Art Theatre.
