«The human voice. Dedication to Arkadiy Raykin» (to his centennial)
November 9 – December 18, 2011 The Samoilov Family Museum
8 Stremyannaya St. (phone: 7641130)
Curator – Rosa Sadykhova
Designer – Olga Rostrosta
The sound of Raykin voice fills the halls and tells about his life and about
people which he met. Two rooms represent bipolar nature of the exhibition. Actor's
private life and his scenic work are the two parts combined in the exhibition
space: the first was presented by the key episodes of his biography which influenced
his creative work while the second shows his characters.
The exhibition “cites” the places and things which were important in the context
of Raykin's life: his dressing room, a microphone, standing alone and waiting
for Actor's return, costumes by Inna Olevskaya which were designed for Raykin's
show "His Majesty Theatre"; there are his legendary masks and even the bath
where "we'll keep pickled cucumbers during the winter" (the famous episode from
film "The Great Power of Art"). Photos and posters for Raykin's wartime performances
and the Raykin-doll created by Sergey Obraztsov are put on display for the first
time.
Materials for the exhibition were given by Museum of Theatre and Music, nonprofit
organization «Raykin Fund for Culture Support and Development», State Museum
of the History of St Petersburg, Russian Institute for History of Arts
